The name of the village comes from the "gorge", a very horny plant species that grows in the region. The old name of the village is Feyzihürriyet. The village was founded by villagers brought from the surrounding villages to prevent the Greeks from destroying the forests.

Tekirdağ central district is 30 km from Süleymanpaşa. The economy of the village is based on agriculture, animal husbandry and beekeeping. There are more mountain goats.

There is a primary school in the village, but besides it cannot be used, transported education is used. The village has drinking water network, but there is no sewerage system. There is no PTT branch or PTT agency. There is no health centers and health posts. The road that provides access to the village is asphalt and there is electricity and fixed telephone in the village. The population in 2019 was 87 people.
